Wall Street Journal Refers to Westwood as 'Tehrangeles'

What do you think of the nick name?

In an article about a recent decrease in international home buyers, the Wall Street Journal on Thursday notes Westwood and Beverly Hills are jokingly called "Tehrangeles" due to the high number of Iranians here.

According to the Census Bureau, a total of 157,225 Californians responded to the question of race in the 2010 Census by marking "x" in the "Some Other Race" box and writing Iranian/Persian alone or in a combination. Others estimate the number of Iranian and/or Persians in the area as high as 700,000 to 800,000.

The Journal isn't unique in using the nick name. In fact, Wikipedia has its own Tehrangeles listing and Google Maps identifies the area, as Patch pointed out last year.

We want to know what you think of the term. Is it accurate? Is it a cool and chic nickname because it reflects the area's international element or do you find it in some way insulting for calling out a particular ethnicity? Also, is the WSJ correct in noting a decrease in international home buyers? Have you noticed a difference?
