The L.A. Marathon passed through a rain-soaked Century City on Sunday.

The Los Angeles Marathon passed through Century City and Westwood along Santa Monica Blvd. on Sunday.

First-time marathoner Markos Geneti overcame rain and cold to win the race in a record time of two hours, six minutes, 35 seconds, while fellow Ethiopian Buzunesh Deba was the women's winner in 2:26:34.

Geneti and Deba both won $25,000 and a Honda Insight EX sedan, valued at $23,100.

Geneti will also receive a $100,000 "Challenge Bonus'' given to the
first overall finisher.

Because of the rain and cold, more than 300 runners were evaluated for hypothermia. At least 20 people were hospitalized for hypothermia, cramps or other problems, and another 70 treated and released on city streets, authorities said.
