UCLA Ranks 34th on Forbes List of Top Colleges

The Bruins join other West Coast schools to make an impact in the higher part of the magazine's rankings.

Forbes released its rankings of the top colleges in the U.S. Wednesday, with UCLA arriving 34th on the list, trailing fellow West Coast colleges Stanford (placing first), Pomona College (a surprising second), Caltech (18th) and UC Berkeley (22nd).

An article on the Forbes website discusses the rankings, saying that the selection process took into account "factors that directly concern today incoming's students (and their families," such as the likelihood of graduating in four years, debt, and whether or not classes would be interesting.

The article also suggests a shift from the so-called East Coast Establishment, with West Coast schools occupying the top two spots on the list and UC Berkeley named as the top state school in the nation. UCLA ranks as the 22nd-best school in terms of research, according to Forbes' breakdown.
