LAUSD Magnet School Applications Due Friday

This year the magnet brochure and application are online

LAUSD has brought the magnet and “permits with transportation” program application process into the 21st century.

The “Choices” brochure with information about both programs was not mailed to district families this year. Instead schools have some hard copies but families are being asked to read the brochure and apply online. The district estimates it saved $250,000 in printing and postage costs.

Parents of children enrolled in the district must create an account at  http://families.lausd.net. Instructions for how to create the account are atparentaccess.lausd.net.

Parents of pre-kindergarten, charter and private schools who are district residents may also complete the magnet application online through the echoices.lausd.net site.

Tanya Anton, a Mar Vista resident and public school advocate says the response to the online application has been tremendous. The district has “had a record number of applicants” for magnet schools this year, she says.
