UPDATED: Fire Shuts Down 405 Transition to the 105

Reopened 405 Freeway Scene of Police Chase Hours Later

The pursuit ends about 6 a.m. near Roscoe Boulevard and Haskell Avenue in Panorama City.

Two suspects were arrested in Panorama City Monday after leading officers on a chase in a stolen Jaguar, reaching speeds in excess of 120 miles per hour, police said.

The chase at one point went through the Sepulveda Pass on a portion of the San Diego (405) Freeway that had been closed all weekend and only reopened just a few hours earlier, eight hours ahead of schedule.

The driver wound through some residential streets in the West L.A. area before heading on the 405 back into the San Fernando Valley. The chase at points also travelled on the 101 and 170 freeways, according to KCAL 9 and CBS 2.

The chase, which began about 4 a.m., ended about 6 a.m. near Roscoe Boulevard and Haskell Avenue, said Officer Norma Eisenman, a Los Angeles Police Department spokeswoman. Where the pursuit began was not immediately reported.

One suspect was captured after running from the stopped vehicle and trying to hide in a storm drain. The names of the suspects were not immediately released.

The Jaguar was being driven at times with its headlights off. But a police helicopter kept a spotlight on the vehicle, and officers on the ground were able to follow it to the location where it stopped and a suspect got out and ran.
