Obama Visits L.A. Sunday, Avoid These Streets

LAPD advises motorists to stay away from these streets on Sunday.

Last weekend was the return of Carmageddon. This weekend may be the return of Obamajam in some Westside neighborhoods.

President Obama will attend several events in Los Angeles on Sunday and the Los Angeles Police Department is advising motorists to stay away from those neighborhoods in the presidential motorcade's path.

The major event is an afternoon "30 Days to Victory" fundraiser concert and rally at the Nokia Theater, at L.A. Live downtown. It will feature performances by Jon Bon Jovi, Jennifer Hudson, Stevie Wonder, Katy Perry and Earth, Wind and Fire.

San Antonio Mayor Julian Castro, who delivered the keynote speech at the Democratic National Convention, will speak. Rallying remarks by the president are likely at about 6 p.m.

Prior to that, the president is scheduled to arrive at an undisclosed location in the Beverly Hills area Sunday afternoon.

The president's exact itinerary has not been announced for security reasons, and it may change. The following is information from LAPD:

12:30-2:30 p.m.
Pico Boulevard between Overland Avenue and Beverly Drive.
Avenue of the Stars between Olympic Boulevard and Sunset Boulevard.
Sunset Boulevard between Beverly Glen and Doheny Drive.

3-5 p.m.
Sunset Boulevard between Beverly Glen and Doheny Drive.
North Whittier Drive between Sunset Boulevard and Santa Monica Boulevard.

5-7 p.m.
Avenue of the Stars between Wilshire and Pico Boulevard.
Motor Avenue between Pico Boulevard and the 10 Freeway.
Streets around L.A. Live and the Nokia Center.

9:30-11:30 p.m.
Motor Avenue between National Boulevard and Pico Boulevard.
Avenue of the Stars between Santa Monica Boulevard and Pico Boulevard.

7-9 a.m.
Avenue of the Stars between Santa Monica Boulevard and Pico Boulevard.

Doesn't he ever have any work to do in Washington, D.C.? I guess it's hard to raise a billion dollars to get reelected.
Paul Suarez October 06, 2012 at 01:04 AM
Doesn't Avenue Of the Stars only exist between Santa Monica Boulevard to the north and Pico Boulevard to the south? It doesn't intersect with Beverly Glen, Doheny or Wilshire. Unless I'm mistaken, there are some errors in the street closure boundaries as far as Avenue Of the Stars is concerned.

@Dennis and Paul, you're exactly right, thanks for leaving a comment. I updated the article. Must be Friday... Have a great, traffic-free weekend!
Fauna Elizabeth Simon October 06, 2012 at 03:08 AM
Yes I Do have comment, I wonder if President Obama supporters are as ugly to Mitt Rommey on his page ? I going to keep checking on that one...since I'm NOT on Rommey's page I will comment about him. Rommey ( who doesn't keep a huge portion of his money in America, in American Banks ) which we, the American Tax payer payed for, in loans to the banks to keep them from collapsing...Remember that? We, now (all Americans) NEED to keep our money HERE not overseas! Rommey only paid 15% in taxes ( how much did you have to pay?) I bet the average American paid a much larger percent. I know I did...as for, " doesn't he have any work to do in Washington ?" remark, are your kidding?? Really? Our LAST President racked up more hours of Vacation and Air Force One hours in two to three years then THIS President has in the last Almost 4 !! There are facts, not just ways to make any Presdient look bad, or look good for that matter. Just observations...Wish it weren't true... But it is... 15% versus what you paid, & money kept overseas ( when we NEED it Here in America helping Us! ) Still going to see if this President's supporter's are as ugly to Rommey On His Page...if so then shame on all!

@Sara Fay: Thanks for the acknowledgement and corrections. But as of this typing there are still inaccuracies. It still reads: "Avenue of the Stars between Wilshire and Pico Boulevard" and "Avenue of the Stars between Olympic Boulevard and Sunset Boulevard." Avenue Of the Stars does not intersect with either Wilshire or Sunset Boulevard. P.S. - I *love* the term "Obamajam."
Paul October 06, 2012 at 08:32 AM
Darn it! Why does he have to come here? These celebrities can mail a check. Why inconvenience citizens?
George Vreeland Hill October 06, 2012 at 01:55 PM
I'm tired of sitting in traffic because of Obama. I may vote for Romney as it will save me gas.
Always Right October 06, 2012 at 04:47 PM
Just what we need, more air pollution.
Jake Lewin October 06, 2012 at 04:55 PM
It's amazing to hear all the negative responses about air one and being on the campaign trail outside of Washington. It's not like he's holding up our armed forces from coming home from war just to fly in and get his picture taken under a "MISSION ACCOMPLISHED" banner that they must have had made prior to leaving port for a war that didn't exists at that time. People, put on your big boy underwear and suck it up. It's a election year and just like every other president in history he's on the trail. It's not like a part time Governor you all loved that campaigned and then quit her job that she was failing at or anything. At least this guys still fixing the last jerkoffs mistakes and getting us moving in the right direction. Have a great weekend.

Very very funny stuff. Delusional, like most liberals, but funny none the less. The only direction your boy is going is down in November. Enjoy his lies while you still can.

Have to leave for work at 7AM Monday from Rochester & Bev Glen going north on Bev Glen...Is that going to be a problem?
Queenmother October 06, 2012 at 06:09 PM
I agree with Fuana and Jake comments to the feeble mindedness of some thinking. Our President of the United States needs to do what he has to do to get the job done and be on the trail. Now!, what you really need to know is that the last debate between the two just showed Romney's ''prep time" but how can we forget about his 47% "real time." The devil is a liar.
Scott Christiansen October 06, 2012 at 06:18 PM
Obama should stay home and study up for the next debate He was very unprepared and pathetically ignorant the other nite
Rob October 06, 2012 at 06:49 PM
Fauna Elizabeth Simon, you are my hero! You rock! Keep up the good work. :)
Rob October 06, 2012 at 06:53 PM
Jake Lawin, I think you rock as well - as a matter of fact, I think I have a man crush on you.
Rob October 06, 2012 at 06:55 PM
Laura Tomkins, wish you would stay out of LA every weekend.
Always Right October 06, 2012 at 07:25 PM
Lies, lies and more lies will never make it so. You need professional help!! Seek it out for your own well being.
Amy Spiegel October 06, 2012 at 07:49 PM
I think it is just fantastic that Obama is coming to L.A.!
Scott Tamkin October 06, 2012 at 08:05 PM
We are having an open house in Cheviot Hills from 2-5. I hope this doesn't impact our turnout. I guess Obama could always pop in?
Scott Christiansen October 06, 2012 at 10:53 PM
He should stay home and study for the next debate. He embarrassed himself and the country the other nite
Ali October 06, 2012 at 11:50 PM
That is a pretty stupid comment. It will cost you a lot more.
Cheryl A. October 07, 2012 at 01:18 AM
Too true Fauna was thinking that myself.
Evan Como October 07, 2012 at 04:20 AM
Every seated President has come to Los Angeles for fund-raising. Every motorcade has been equally annoying. "When you teach a man to hate and fear his brother, when you teach that he is a lesser man because of his color or his beliefs or the policies he pursues, when you teach that those who differ from you threaten your freedom or your job or your family, then you also learn to confront others not as fellow citizens but as enemies, to be met not with cooperation but with conquest; to be subjugated and mastered." Robert Kennedy
Sara Fay October 07, 2012 at 05:42 AM
@Paul, I have triple-checked the info I have from LAPD and though it doesn't make sense to us locals, that's what they sent me. I left it as is in the interest of passing on LAPD's general message...which is to avoid those streets and the general area. Thanks for following up with me anyways! Glad you are digging the word "Obamajam" — let's hope it doesn't come true.
Seeithowitis October 07, 2012 at 06:48 AM
No need Fauna, just sit back, and allow them to make a fool of themselves. Just like Obama did to Romney, in the debate.
Bryan Sanders October 07, 2012 at 08:13 AM
Who is Rommey?
Ilbert October 07, 2012 at 12:03 PM
Who can afford gas to drive? He held up the development of gas in the Golf for months, refuses to develop coal properly, does not allow exploration for gas in Federal lands, spends billions of tax dollars on "alternative" energy. Gas is $3 a gallon under this administration, unemployment is going down because people are leaving the job hunting market, not because of new jobs and the new job are part-time, yet our President can find the time to come to Los Angeles and mess with our traffic. In a real debate, without a teleprompter, he bordered on sounding stupid. The emperor has no clothes folks.
Maureen Levinson October 07, 2012 at 09:06 PM
May we stick to the issue of the traffic, please?
RTL October 07, 2012 at 11:23 PM
Complacent and Sleepy Obama or Rude And Mormonic Rodney. Take your pick.
Sharam Tabib October 08, 2012 at 04:41 AM
I'll enjoy the thought that all the investments that the takers and their protectors are making towards his failing campaign will be worth nothing in less than a month. For now, we'll put up with even more traffic gridlock because your socialist hero is visiting.
