In 1963, I went to work for Ruth Handler's brother, Muzzy (Maurice) Mosko, in Belmont, California. Had the chance many times to see and talk with Ruth and Elliot and their kids, Barbara and Ken. I worked initially as a salesman at Muzzy's, Belmont British Cars, and became his manager for 10 years. Went to the Mattel factory in Hawthorn, California several times. Saw the whole family there. ... Because Ruth, Elliot and Muzzy knew so many people, it was a treat for me knowing 'Barbie''s uncle, mother and father.

From Carol Spencer:

I was Barbie's designer for over 35 years starting in 1963. I met Elliot on my first day at Mattel Toys - (name of the company at that time). Elliot knew every employee in the design center and talked with them every day. Usually at the stroke of 3:30 p.m. following Musak playing - On Wisconsin - I would see Elliot walking over to my desk to see what I was doing. He questioned and guided all toy development step by step, even Barbie fashion design. ... He was soft spoken, creative and always had a twinkle in his eye when looking at toys.  He was a true artist with ingenious ideas.  It was a fun place to work, and in the early years, a Ma & Pa small company.
