Strong, Gusty Winds to Return Friday

Gusts of up to 25 mph are forecasted through Saturday afternoon.

Strong northeast winds will pick up across Los Angeles Friday morning, with gusts up to 25 mph forecast in Westside communities.

The most powerful winds of 40 mph will blow below passes and canyons from Malibu to the Hollywood Hills. The winds will persist through Saturday afternoon, according to the National Weather Service.

"Winds may cause tree limbs to break and may displace unsecured objects," Weather Service meteorologists said.

In Westwood and Century City, temperatures will remain in the 50s-60s Friday and Saturday. Nighttime lows will be in the mid to upper 40s through the weekend.

Two weeks ago, fierce windstorms knocked out power across Los Angeles and the San Gabriel Valley, leaving hundreds of thousands of residents without electricity.
