Rising Gas Prices: No End In Sight

The 29th increase in 30 days pushed the average price 21.7 cents higher than a week ago.

1. The average price of a gallon of self-serve regular gasoline in Los Angeles County rose to its highest amount since Sept. 7, 2008 Thursday, increasing 3.6 cents to $3.821, one day after increasing 1.2 cents. The 29th increase in 30 days pushed the average price 21.7 cents higher than a week ago, 45 cents above what it was one month ago and 80.2 cents greater than it was one year ago, according to figures from the AAA and Oil Price Information Service.

2. The Coalition of University Employees/Teamsters Local Union 2010 and the Los Angeles County Federation of Labor will host a town hall meeting on the UCLA campus today at 11 a.m. featuring state Sen. Curren Price Jr., who reps Century City. Los Angeles Tennis Center, Straus Clubhouse, 420 E. Charles E. Young Drive, West. 

3. Looking ahead: Tomorrow at 2 p.m., the UCLA womens' basketball team wraps up the regular season hosting Washington State at Pauley Pavilion. Later, at 8 p.m., in the campus' Royce Hall, Chick Corea and Gary Burton perform songs from their classic 1972 album Crystal Silence.

4. Rodney King was cited for driving without a license two days before the 20th anniversary of his beating by Los Angeles Police Department officers, according to TMZ.com. Arcadia police received a complaint of a man driving recklessly in a green Mitsubishi Tuesday afternoon. When officers located the vehicle, they saw King driving.

5. Weather today: Partly cloudy, highs around 70. Tonight; Partly cloudy in the evening then becoming mostly clear with lows in the lower 50s.
