Drought Is Over, But Not for L.A.

Water rationing measures continue in the city despite the governor's declaration.

1. Gov. Jerry Brown declared an end to California's drought Wednesday, but Los Angeles residents will continue to live with water- rationing restrictions. The governor cited recent findings that the water content of the snowpack in the Sierra Nevada mountains is 165 percent of normal, and reservoirs that feed the state water project are near capacity. Despite the move, Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa said conservation restrictions would remain in place in Los Angeles.

2. About 100 people showed up Wednesday for the first chance to weigh in on a proposal to build a $1 billion NFL stadium in downtown Los Angeles. The so-called scoping meeting was hosted by the city's Planning Department in a conference room at the Los Angeles Convention Center, a portion of which would be torn down and rebuilt to accommodate the proposed stadium.

3. The Friends of Westwood Library present an evening with author Robert Goolrick in conversation with Julie Robinson of Literary Affairs. Goolrick will discuss his latest novel, A Reliable Wife. The event is followed by a dessert reception. The evening starts at 7 p.m. at the Westwood Village Synagogue, 1148 Westwood Blvd.
