Feuer Town Hall Tonight; UCLA 'Dream Fund' Opens

Mike Feuer's town hall meeting begins at 7 p.m.

1. Assemblyman Mike Feuer is hosting a town hall meeting in Westwood tonight at 7 p.m. Topics include  the state budget, jobs, economic recovery, health insurance issues and transportation improvements. The event at Sinai Temple's Kohn Chapel is sponsored by several homeowners associations and the Westwood Community Council.

2. Billionaire Kirk Kerkorian has transferred $200 million to UCLA, the university announced Monday. The new Dream Fund, to be managed by the UCLA Foundation, will spend at least 50 percent of its income at UCLA, primarily on medical research and academic programs  with the rest being spent off campus. Applications for funding will be vetted by a committee of UCLA representatives and community leaders.

3. At 7 p.m. tonight, he Hammer Museum will present a lecture by social scientist/artist/writer Trevor Paglen, whose works include photographic monograph ``Invisible: Covert Operations and Classified Landscapes.''

4. The Center for Israel Studies at UCLA presents Is There an Arab-Israeli "Peace Process?" A public talk by Galia Golan. Professor, Lauder School of Government, Diplomacy and Strategy at the Interdisciplinary Center, Herzliya, and head of the MA Program and the MA specialization in Diplomacy and Conflict Studies. The lecture begins at 5 p.m. at the campus Humanities Building - Room 169.
