Chilly Treat Shop Set to Open in August

Just in time for summer's heat, a new cool treat shop is preparing to open its doors. The inaugural Chilly Ribbons store will open in Westwood in August.

Chilly Ribbons, according to the company, is shaved snow and is distinguished from other frozen treats by the way it's made and delivered. The shaving machines deliver long, flowing wafer-thin ribbons of shaved snow from blocks of creamy, flavored ice which is likened to frozen cotton candy.

"The only way to describe this frozen dessert is to say that Chilly Ribbons has the rich and creamy feel of ice cream, but it's much lighter in texture and far lower in calories," said company founder and CEO Scott Colwell.

The shaved snow comes in a variety of 40 flavors ranging from mango and coconut to butter pecan, chocolate fudge and green tea.

The store will have the ambiance of a contemporary ski lodge, with white slate walls, warming woods and a fireplace and will include a self-serve experience where customers can create their own treats.

The Westwood location, which will be at 1135 Westwood Blvd., will be the first of five planned for Los Angeles, with an additional five slated to open in San Diego.
