When I was seven years old I decided to become a teacher. Since then I made every effort to learn all that I could about child development. In Russia, I graduated from college with a major in child development. After moving to America, I continued taking courses in college while raising my daughter and working at a preschool. I wanted my daughter and my students to become confident, happy, and successful individuals.

While working in preschool, I noticed how teachers and parents tried to solve and eliminate conflicts that occurred between the children. At first this seemed like a logical solution. We naturally want to “put down the fire.” But then it occurred to me: How will these children learn to tackle and comprehend conflicts if the conflict is quickly brushed under the rug? In fact, I found many textbooks suggesting that discipline should be positive, conflicts should be resolved constructively, and children should find their own solutions to problems. However, these books did not explain how to do this. After many years of research, I have found books that were extremely helpful in raising children to help them become self-confident, independent, motivated, and positive.

While it has always been difficult for me to find good books on conflict resolution for adults, it has been even more difficult for me to find good books for young children on the subject. I decided to change that by writing my own book on conflict resolution for the children. My first book is called “Toby is My Bear” and focuses on sharing in preschool through a simple and entertaining story.
