Though Take a Bao, in the Westfield Shoppingtown, has been around for only three years, the main ingredient of the restaurant's cuisine dates back to the third century. The bao is a classic Asian dish, a steamed bun filled with meats and sauces. Take a Bao reimagines the cuisine by using bao dough, rolling it flat and filling it with interesting, fresh ingredients. Customers can get creative with their selections, as every bao dish comes with two bao and a fresh napa salad. Ingredients include classics like miso beef and teriyaki chicken, or new twists like pomegranate steak and sweet soy grilled tofu. There are a couple of salads to choose from, and all of the meats that are available in bao form can also just be ordered on a bed of white or brown rice. There is a small wine and beer selection, lots of soft drinks, and two delicious-sounding desserts.
