Update: Metro Plans 405 Lane Closure Tuesday, Wednesday Morning

UPDATE: Metro official have sent notification that a Friday news release had the wrong days, and the overnight 405 Freeway closures will not be starting at midnight tonight. Rather, they are at midnight Monday night and Tuesday nights, with reopenings at 5 a.m. Tuesday and Wednesday mornings. 

The permanent closure of the 405 offramp at Montana Avenue is still on tap for some point Sunday.

All northbound lanes of the San Diego (405) Freeway will be closed in West Los Angeles Tuesday and Wednesday mornings as work continues on the Sepulveda Pass Improvements Project, officials said.

The closures between midnight and 5 a.m. both days will make it easier to work in the median during roadway widening, according to Metro.

On Monday, northbound lanes between Santa Monica and Wilshire boulevards will be closed and on Tuesday the northbound lanes will be closed between Wilshire Boulevard and Moraga Drive, Metro officials said.

Ramp closures will begin as early as early as 7 p.m. and lane closures will begin at 10 p.m. on Sunday and Monday, according to Metro.

Also on Sunday, the Montana Avenue offramp from the northbound side of the freeway will close permanently to allow construction to continue on an additional northbound freeway lane, officials said.

Meanwhile, the new seismically updated Sunset Boulevard off-ramp from the northbound San Diego Freeway will reopen by 6 a.m. Monday morning following a four-month closure. The reopening will take place one week ahead of schedule, Metro officials said.

The new ramp will allow up to 50 vehicles to queue on the ramp, twice as many as the old one, officials said.
