The Family Savvy's 6 Picks for the Week Ahead

Check out what's fun and new (and maybe even free) this week in L.A.!

After combing the internet for L.A.'s best events for the week ahead, The Family Savvy is here to highlight what our fine city has to offer.

For Everyone: The Book of Mormon

With all the focus on Mitt Romney and Obama, you might forget another (more entertaining) Mormon. From the creators of South Park, this raucous laugh riot is sure to entertain parents, grandparents, and older kids. Get your tickets to The Book of Mormon at the Pantages before they are all snatched up!

Treasures of the Walt Disney Archives at the Reagan Library

Treasures of the Walt Disney Archives, curated by D23 (the official Disney Fan Club) has kept the contents of the archive under wraps so that you'll have to visit to see it! Check out memorabilia from some of your favorite Disney Films and shows, without paying the price of an "E Ticket"! The Reagan Library is home to other historical exhibits and information, so the day can be educational as well as entertaining.

For Middle School-Aged: Sky High Sports

This trampoline mecca is the newest young teen hang out, with late night hours and a parents lounge complete with TVs and snacks. The Family Savvy loves that Sky High Sports even has nighttime exercise classes for adults, so you can get in shape while your kids socialize!

For High School-Aged: Movies in the Hollywood Cemetery

While a movie in a cemetery might weird out some teens, the DJ sets before and after the show and the warm night air are sure to change their minds. Pack a fun picnic for your kids and their friends, and let them take advantage of the lingering summer weather! Cinespia at the Hollywood Cemetery is playing Woody Allen's Manhattan this weekend, a great film for any budding cinephile.

For Parents: Cur-ATE - Cooking American at LACMA

LACMA's Cur-ATE event is revolutionizing the traditional date of dinner and a show. Instead, dinner is the show, as museum docents show you how American art has been influenced by food throughout history. The event concludes with a three course meal complemented by sommelier-selected California wines. It's only happening this Monday, September 10th - so snatch up your tickets and hire a sitter ASAP!

Try This: Dance Downtown Presents Samba

The Family Savvy loves free events, especially ones that combine foreign culture and the culture of our fine city. See Brazil and downtown LA come together at Dance Downtown's Samba party this Friday, Sep. 7th! Get ready to experience traditional Brazilian dancing, but don't worry if you're new to the moves of Carnaval. Lessons for beginners will be provided all throughout the night.
