Uni Golfer Ties for 15th at City Section Finals
Adam Aihara shoots 82 and is the last alternate for the Southern California Regionals.
Adam Aihara of University High carded an 82 at the LA City Golf Championships on Monday at Griffith Park's Wilson Course, finishing in a four-way tie for 15th and nabbing the second and last alternate spot for next Tuesday's Southern California Regional championships in Riverside.
The Wildcats' sophomore fired a 36 on the front nine and a 46 on the back nine on the par 72 course. Teammate David Yu, also a 10th-grader, shot an 86 and tied for 28th overall.
Troix Tonkham of Sherman Oaks Center for Enriched Studies shot a one-under-par 71 to win the individual title, followed by Robin Yang of Van Nuys (73). Senior Nigel Tucker of North Hollywood and Palisades sophomore Kornelius Balkounis each shot 75.

Venice won the team title with 404 points, followed by Granada Hills (422), Van Nuys (424), North Hollywood (442), Palisades (452) and Cleveland (484).
The City team champion and runner-up and the top 12 individuals qualify for the Southern California Regionals, which will be played next Tuesday at Brookside Golf Course in Pasadena.

The state championships are Wednesday, June 8, at Poppy Hills Golf Course in Pebble Beach.
