UCLA Takes NCAA Title

The Bruins beat Mississippi State 8-0 to become the national champions.

Earning it's first NCAA baseball title ever, the Bruins topped Mississippi State 8-0 in the national championship game in Nebraska Tuesday evening.

According to the Omaha-World Herald, the win marks the 109th national sports title for UCLA, but the first in baseball.

Coach John Savage explained the importance of the win in a post-game interview that appeared on the stadium's big screen.

"It means everything ... This is for all the Bruins. I’m just so proud of the program, our coaches, our players, everybody involved. It’s a family. We did it together," Savage said, as reported by the Herald.

Bruin pitcher Nick Vander Tuig threw eight shutout innings, according to Fox News. The team, Fox reported, had 12 hits in the NCAA College World Series clincher.
