UCLA students participated in a walk and blood drive Tuesday to honor victims of the Boston Marathon bombings.

Held by the Undergraduate Students Association Council, the event drew more than 60 people, according to a university press release.

Students and others in the UCLA community wrote letters to victims and their families, then walked through campus and donated blood, which will benefit patients at Ronald Reagan UCLA Medical Center, according to the release.

"I wanted to be involved with UCLA's effort to show support for Boston and all of the people who were affected by the bombings," said second-year biology student Alex Hoffman, who donated blood. "An event like this shows how involved UCLA is with things that span beyond this campus."
