UCLA Looks to Raise $50M for New Football Training Facility

The facility would be built on campus near UCLA's football practice field.

By City News Service

UCLA athletic officials announced a $50 million fundraising campaign today to bankroll a planned football training facility west of the team's practice field.

The facility would include a locker room, training area, strength and conditioning facilities, coaches offices, meeting rooms, equipment rooms and video rooms. The building would also pay homage to the history of UCLA football.

"UCLA is a special place for student-athletes to compete and pursue their dreams," head football coach Jim Mora said. "To be able to add a football facility that will help us with player development and growth is simply fantastic. There is so much history here and so many incredible players and moments to celebrate."

The university is searching for an architectural firm to design the proposed complex, which would be funded entirely by private donations, according to UCLA. Construction would not begin until certain fundraising thresholds are reached.
