Tuesday Meeting On Sale Of UCLA Japanese Garden In Bel-Air

The meeting was organized by the Garden Conservancy and an expert on Japanese gardens will speak.

The Garden Conservancy will host a meeting in Bel-Air on the future of the Hannah Carter Japanese Garden, .

The garden is owned by the university and is situated within the Bel-Air community. If sold, the garden could bring in $5.7 million to the university, the Los Angeles Times reports.

Designed in 1959 after a famous garden in Kyoto, the future of the garden has rallied the support of the Garden ConservancyLos Angeles Conservancy, and the California Preservation Foundation.

Kendall Brown, an expert on Japanese gardens, will speak at the meeting and a representative from UCLA may also attend. (Westwood-Century City Patch will be at the meeting and we'll have a story for you Wednesday morning.)
