UPDATED: Baylor Rocks UCLA, 49-26, in Holiday Bowl

The Bruins were clearly overmatched against the Bears, whose quarterback Nick Florence set the school's single season record with 4,309 passing yards for the season.

Baylor (8-5) proved to be unstoppable in an overwhelming 49-26 win over No. 17 UCLA in the Holiday Bowl in San Diego Thursday night.

Leading the nation in total offense with 387.7 yards per game, the Bears got things rolling quickly with a 21-0 lead and kept the Bruins scorless in the first quarter.

The Bears' Nick Florence threw two first-half touchdown passes and Glasco Martin ran for two first-half scores. Florence completed 10 of 13 passes for 188 yards and ran one yard for a fourth-quarter touchdown as the Bears (8-5) won for the fifth time in six games.

Baylor out-gained UCLA, 494 yards to 362, and led 25-17 in first downs. Lache Seastrunk ran for 138 yards on 16 carries, including a 43-yard second-quarter touchdown run, and Martin 98 yards and three touchdowns on 21 carries as the Bears out-rushed the Bruins, 306-33.

However, Baylor's defense proved to be a force to be reckoned with as well, sacking UCLA redshirt freshman quarterback Brett Hundley six times. But despite a lack of pass protection, Hundley managed to complete 26 of 50 passes for 329 yards and three touchdowns in the game -- setting UCLA's season passing record with 3,740 yards. Cade McNown previously held the record with 3,470 yards in 1998.

The Bruins season ends with a 9-5 record under first-year head coach Jim Mora, Jr. Mora has been touted for giving UCLA a new sense of toughness and confidence, though the team lost its final three games of the year -- losing twice to Stanford before tonight's bowl loss. UCLA has lost in four of its last five bowl appearances and six of its last eight.
