Westside Subway Metro Meeting Ongoing

Patch will keep readers posted with the latest information.

The Metropolitan Transportation Authority Board of Directors is in the process of determining weather or not to tunnel under Beverly Hills High School to reach a subway station on Constellation Boulevard in Century City.

The board is slated to make a decision on phase two and three of the Westside Subway Extension, an expansion of the Purple Line to Beverly Hills, Century City, Westwood and the Veterans Administration Medical Center.

In a report , Metro staff affirmed the agency's position that it would be safe to tunnel under BHHS to reach a stop at ConstellationBoulevard/Avenue of the Stars. Geologists and engineers commissioned by the Beverly Hills Unified School District and city of Beverly Hills argued at a  that Metro is using flawed data to support tunneling under BHHS.

The Metro board approved plans in late April for the first phase of the $5.6 billion Westside Subway Extension, but  so it could consider Beverly Hills' objections to tunneling under BHHS.
