Patch Poll: Should Owners Be Fined For Barking Dogs?

The Los Angeles City Council approved an ordinance that will fine residents whose dogs bark incessantly.

The Los Angeles City Council approved an ordinance Tuesday that would cite dog owners whose pets bark excessively, reported The Los Angeles Times.

The measure will have to be approved by Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa before going into effect, according to the report. The LA Times said offenders could pay pretty steep fines.

Warning first..with 30 days to solve their problem (clean slate at 6 mo)...then fine with moderate increase. MOST people fix their problem..and EVERYONE has had a late night at work, flat etc..that causes dog to roar until dinner arrives..I think what I have suggested accomodates those folks, but yet takes care of those who don't give a hoot as well.

I have two dogs and if they are out, they get 3 barks and then they are IN. Even though we have the amazing gift of a loving pet, we are not entitled to make the rest of our neighborhood miserable. Control your dog!
