Obama Cancels Next Week's Trip to Los Angeles

Saying he wanted to remain in Washington, D.C., to focus on a congressional resolution on Syria, President Barack Obama on Thursday canceled a planned trip to Los Angeles scheduled for next week.

Obama had been scheduled to attend Democratic National Committee fundraiser and speak at the AFL-CIO convention in downtown Los Angeles.
The fundraiser had been billed as a roundtable discussion with the president, with participants spending $32,400 to attend.
The AFL-CIO national convention will begin Sunday and continue through Wednesday at the Los Angeles Convention Center. Obama was scheduled to speak at the event Monday.
