Meet the Neighborhood Council Candidates: Jolie Duhon

Westwood Neighborhood Council candidate Jolie Duhon is running for a Business Group seat on the 19-seat board.

Westwood-Century City Patch: What are the important issues facing Westwood and what is your position on them?

Jolie Duhon: One issue that is important to me as a merchant is the lack of parking in the Village. It affects my guests, employees and vendors. I believe that there is a lot of under-utilized parking available and that through collaboration, ingenuity and flexibility, we can increase available parking all throughout Westwood.

Patch: What Westwood Neighborhood Council decisions have you agreed with? What, if anything, would you do differently?

Duhon: I believe that the decision to bring in a farmers market to the Village was a terrific idea. I would like to work with local vendors to increase options at the market.

Patch: In your opinion, what role should the Westwood Neighborhood Council play in the community?

Duhon: I believe that the Westwood Neighborhood Council should act as the tireless advocator of improvement in the Village. I feel that local issues—those that are important to the vitality of Westwood stakeholders—should be weighed and addressed.

Patch: What's one thing most constituents don't know about you?

Duhon: One thing that most constituents don't know about me is that I ride my bike to and from work almost every day from south of Pico. I see a lot about Westwood on my daily commute.

Patch: Why did you decide to run for a seat on the Westwood Neighborhood Council? What qualifications do you have to represent your community?

Duhon: I decided to run for a merchant seat on the Westwood Neighborhood Council because I believe in the future of the community. I run a very busy restaurant that employs 50-plus individuals and serves thousands, all of which are affected by the stability, safety, accessibility and vitality of the Village.
