Mayoral candidate Austin Beutner has released an intertactive map showing response times for the Los Angeles Fire Department.
The national standard calls for fire departments to respond to emergencies under five minutes 90 percent of the time. The map shows that
- Fire Station 57 serving Westwood responds under five minutes 59 percent of the time.
- Fire Station 71 in Bel Air and Holmby Hills responds under five minutes 48 percent of the time.
- Fire Station 92 serving Century City responds under five minutes 56 percent of the time.
Beutner has been critical of the city's response to the fire department's response time and recently wrote about it in Huffinton Post-Los Angeles.
