UCLA Student Government Leader Arrested

Omar Arce is suspected of restraining another person by use of force, the Daily Bruin reports.

An official in UCLA's student government was arrested today on suspicion of false imprisonment, according to a published report.

Omar Arce, the Undergraduate Students Association Council Community service commissioner, was arrested on campus at 10:47 a.m. and booked into the West Hollywood jail about 45 minutes later, the UCLA campus newspaper, the Daily Bruin, reported.

University police received a report about a series of sexual batteries between Oct. 17 and March 8 and the Daily Bruin confirmed a report had been filed against Arce, by another student, who was not named.

Bail for Arce, 21, was set at $50,000, the Bruin reported. Arce is due to appear at the Airport Courthouse on Friday at 4 p.m.

False imprisonment means restraining another person by use of force. UCLA police spokeswoman Nancy Greenstein said she could not comment on the details of the allegations against Arce, a fourth-year international development studies major.
