UCLA Stops Would-Be Burglar in the Act of Stealing Her Laptop

The victim saw the suspect and confronted him, prompting him to let go of the laptop and run out the front door.

Police today were investigating an attempted burglary at a UCLA student's off-campus apartment.

An man believed to be about 20 years old entered the unlocked dwelling in the 400 block of Kelton Avenue about 3:15 a.m. Friday and tried to take the victim's laptop computer while she was in a bedroom, according to the UCLA Police Department.

The victim saw the suspect and confronted him, prompting him to let go of the laptop and run out the front door, police said.

He was seen getting into an older model BMW 7 series sedan with three or four other men inside, according to campus police, who reported the vehicle was last seen headed westbound on Gayley Avenue from Kelton.

Detailed descriptions of the suspect and the others in the car were not made available.
