UCLA Point Guard Suspended After Arrest

Campus police arrested point guard Jerime Anderson Wednesday on suspicion of theft.

UCLA police arrested point guard Jerime Anderson on suspicion of theft Wednesday and he has been suspended from the season opener.

While investigating the theft of a MacBook laptop, campus police were led to Anderson, 21, by an anti-theft tracking device installed in the laptop. The laptop is valued at more than $1,500, said Nancy Greenstein, director of police community services.

"This is a disappointing and unfortunate situation for Jerime,'' head coach Ben Howland said. "We have a high standard and code of conduct that our student athletes are expected to follow. He knows that he has made a huge mistake and that he has not represented himself, our program or UCLA in a manner that is required.''
