Thieves Target Gardeners' Trucks on Westside

The Los Angeles Police Department is advising residents to remind their gardeners to lock and secure their vehicles.

The West Los Angeles Police Station is advising residents of Pacific Palisades, Brentwood and Century City of thefts in the area targeting gardeners' trucks.

According to a statement by the LAPD, the unknown suspects strike while the vehicle is left unattended and the gardeners are busy working in the backyard.

The thieves or thief take the unattended truck, drive it two to four blocks away and steal whatever equipment they can find before abandoning the vehicle.

Authorities are advising residents who have gardeners to warn them of the threat and advise them to lock and secure their vehicles.

The unknown suspect or suspects tend to strike between the hours of 9 a.m. and 1 p.m., according to the LAPD.

Residents are advised to report unusual activity by calling 877-ASK-LAPD or dialing 911.
