Redondo Beach Crime: Middle School Pot

The following information was supplied by the Redondo Beach Police Department. Where arrests or charges are mentioned, it does not indicate a conviction.

The Redondo Beach Police Department recently dealt with multiple incidents, according to the department's Recent Law Enforcement Events news release covering reports received Nov. 5 through Saturday.

Drug arrest at local middle school

Police arrested a middle school student on suspicion of selling marijuana Friday afternoon. According to police, someone told a school resource officer that the student had sold marijuana to another student at school.

Several witnesses identified the student, who was then arrested.

Police did not identify which middle school the student attended.

Narcotics search

A Redondo Beach Police Department K-9 team was dispatched to the city of Bellflower on Nov. 6 to help Bellflower detectives with a narcotics search.

With the help of the Redondo police dog, officers recovered 11 kilograms—24.2 pounds—of cocaine and more than $600,000 in cash.

Bellflower police seized and booked the drugs and money as evidence in the investigation.

Burglary in South Redondo Beach

Employees at a business complex in the 800 block of North Pacific Coast Highway called police on Sunday after hearing unusual noises in the hallway outside the business. When the employees went searching for the source of the noise, they saw someone breaking the window of another office in the building.

Responding officers surrounded the building and called for the man—later identified by police as Casey Clark—to come out, police said. Clark complied and was taken into custody without incident.

Before being booked into jail on suspicion of burglary, Clark was treated for minor injuries that police believe were sustained when he broke the window glass.

No loss was reported.

I have called in a 2:30 AM barking dog complaint at least 3 times a week for over 3 years before anything was done. What a shame to let this happen and escalate.

Middle school pot has been going on for at least 15 years that I know of! I think all of the schools should have drug sniffing dogs! Right now they have the upper hand. Control of this can and needs to be taken. In my experience I have seen that it just leads kids to more more potent and deadly drugs! Save our kids!!!
