UPDATE: 15-year-old Killed in PCH Crash

Investigators say an eastbound vehicle crossed over westbound lanes and struck two vehicles on Pacific Coast Highway.

Updated at 4:10 p.m.

Pacific Coast Highway was closed in both directions Saturday following a fatal head-on crash involving three vehicles in Malibu.

The crash on PCH at Rambla Vista was reported at 8:10 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 27, according to the Lost Hills/Malibu Sheriff's Station.

Sheriff's Sgt. Anthony Arnold said the dead person was a juvenile who had been a passenger in an eastbound car that apparently crossed into westbound lanes. A head-on or broadside collision resulted, and one spinning car then hit a third vehicle, according to City News Service.

The crash was apparently caused when one of the vehicles blew a tire, ABC7 reported. The Coroner's Office reported that 15-year-old Roman Jimenez of Los Angeles was killed in the crash.

PCH was closed for nearly eight hours and reopened around 3:45 p.m., according to City News Service.

Jennifer Denicola told Malibu Patch she witnessed the aftermath of the accident.

"One person [was] pulled out by fire fighters and given CPR," Denicola said.

The crash occurred in front of the home of Malibu Patch blogger Fireball Tim Lawrence, who shared photos of the accident.

In a report from the scene, Lawrence said some of the traffic was diverted onto his street, Rambla Vista, which he described as "a street that can barely fit one way traffic."

During the noon hour, PCH was closed to westbound through traffic at Topanga Canyon Boulevard, although westbound local traffic was allowed as far west as Las Flores Canyon Road, according to City News Service.

The Pepperdine University Department of Athletics sent out a tweet stating that the Malibu Invitational, a swimming and diving event, had been delayed until 11 a.m. due to the crash.
