A series of residential burglaries in Westside neighborhoods close to the 405 has prompted police to ask residents to help identify a man reportedly at the scene of one of the incidents.
The Los Angeles Police Department is seeking a man who was seen trespassing on a property on Chalon Road in Brentwood. The homeowner confronted the individual, said Detective Greg Davis of the West LA Police Station.
“He told the [homeowner] he was lost and gave some other kind of excuse,” Davis said. “The homeowner noticed the screen door had been cut.”
The residential burglaries occured in the area just north of Sunset Boulevard within two miles west and east of the 405. The burglaries involve cut window screens and stolen jewelry, electronics and money. Davis said residents in the area should be aware of their surroundings and report any suspicious activity they observe.
Victims are often approached by individuals who claim they are lost or looking for an address as a ploy to canvass the area, Davis said.
“If you see suspicious people walking up and down the street in your neighborhood, call the police,” Davis said.
