Update: Motorcyclist, 19, Killed in Car Crash

Westwood Boulevard was closed between Wellworth Avenue and and Wilshire Boulevard while the Los Angeles Police Department investigated.

A 19-year-old motorcyclist was killed Thursday night in a collision with a vehicle on Westwood Boulevard, near the Hammer Museum, the Los Angeles Fire Department reported.

The motorcyclist, an unidentified male, was traveling southbound on Westwood Boulevard when he smashed into a Range Rover making a left onto Ashton Avenue, according to police. The female driver of the vehicle was not injured, said Fire Deptartment spokesman Brian Humphrey.

The accident occurred at about 7:35 p.m. at 1250 S. Westwood Blvd. The thoroughfare was closed between Wilshire Boulevard and Wellworth Avenue while police investigated, according to the authorities.

"The driver ... did stop at the scene," said LAPD spokeswoman Sara Faden. "The investigation is certainly ongoing at this point."
