LAPD, LASD, CHP to Increase DUI Patrols for St. Patrick's Day

Authorities are urging drivers to be safe and plan ahead for the holiday.

The Los Angeles Police Department and the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department will be stepping up DUI patrols during the St. Patrick's Day weekend.

According to the LAPD, a report from the California Office of Traffic Safety shows three people were killed and 96 seriously injured in incidents involving "at least one driver or motorcyclist with a blood alcohol content (BAC) of .08 or above" around St. Patrick's Day last year.

The LAPD will be conducting saturation patrols and DUI checkpoints over the weekend. In addition, the "Avoid the 100," a Los Angeles County DUI campaign, will deploy additional police, sheriff and CHP officers.
