Former UCLA Associate Athletic Director Charged with Child Porn

Michael Sondheimer pleads not guilty to one count of possession of matter depicting a minor engaging in sexual conduct.

A former UCLA associate athletic director who was allegedly found with child pornography on a work computer pleaded not guilty today to a felony charge.

Michael Sondheimer, 58, is charged with one count of possession of matter depicting a minor engaging in sexual conduct, according to the Los Angeles County District Attorney's Office.

Sondheimer was allegedly found with child pornography on his work-issued laptop computer, according to Deputy District Attorney Samer Hathout.

The criminal complaint alleges that the crime occurred on or about April 24, 2013.

Sondheimer resigned last year after being placed on administrative leave, according to published reports.

He was arrested Feb. 27 by UCLA police and released the next day, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Inmate Information Center website.

Sondheimer's attorney could not be reached for immediate comment on the case.

If convicted of the charge, he faces a maximum three-year state prison sentence, according to the District Attorney's Office. He is due back in court May 8, when a date is expected to be set for a hearing to determine if there is enough evidence for him to stand trial.
