Joanna Ramos' Fatal Fight Spurs This Girl's YouTube

For Anti-Bullying Week, 10-year-old Reagan McKenzie wrote new lyrics to The Cure's LoveSong and pleads for you, the viewer, to do something specific.

Anything that will inspire a 10-year-old to do anything this personal and positive is worth watching. When it is inspired by the Long Beach after-school fight involving Joanna Ramos, it got our attention. Then 10-year-old Reagan Mackenzie posted it on our Patch story about the case.

It is her vocal rendition of The Cure's Lovesong.

On the story comments, she wrote:

"I am 10 yrs old and even tho they said the other girl was not bullying her I think if they planned a fight there must of been some talking about ea other in a bad way and that is bullying even if they were both doing lit. Im sad for them both but I wrote a song for joanna for anti bully week it is about making other kids feel bad and making them want to fight or hurt themselves, we have a student peace patrol at my school i ben on it for 2yrs so that fight would not happen if u had a peace patrol because we would have solved it or told the principal. it is so sad she died im so sorry im so sorry. this is my song." http://youtu.be/uNf7Tc9k7WI

What do you think about her anti-bullying plea?

Here is another anti-bullying YouTube by two grade schools' students.

Watch: Reagan, 10, who sang the beautiful anti-bullying song in response to the Long Beach after-school fight that killed Joanna Ramos, takes first in Socal Icon, a performance competition with celebrity judges. http://www.facebook.com/photo.php?v=411205155605856 The organization, Icon Performing Arts, is an after-school for-pay program affiliated with the decades-old Young Americans, and Reagan won the $500 prize. Sophisticated voice but yet not inappropriately dressed, etc. www.iconarts.org

It is a pretty big competition the after school program associated with Icon is new and is something separate from So Cal Icon's competiton it is put on as a workshop for kids prior to auditioning up til now to teach them how to perform on stage. http://blog.pe.com/community-arts/2012/07/16/eastvale-semifinals-for-socal-icon-coming-up some press releases prior to semi finals The finals were held at the Margaret A Webb theater in Santa Ana, below is a previous press release explaining the competition.
