Adopt, Don't Shop! Check Out These Adorable, Adoptable Pets Of The Week From Found Animals

Adopt, Don't Shop! Meet Found Animals Foundation's Adoptable Pets Of The Week

You have a lot of options when it comes to adding a furry member to your family. At Found Animals we encourage families to visit their local animal care center to adopt their new best friend. Why? Because most shelter pets were once loved by an individual or family and relinquished to a shelter at no fault of their own. Roughly 6-8 million animals enter shelters every year in the United States, of these only half will find their permanent home. You can help two of these animals today. Meet Twinkie and Maya. Both are available for adoption today!

More About Twinkie

Twinkie is our handsome senior male adoptable cat of the week! He is an 8 year old orange and white domestic shorthair. He’s been at the Cat Adoption Center in Downey for a few days and has aleready warmed up to the staff and volunteers. He’s pretty athletic for a cat his age and he still likes to run around and play. The volunteers say he is affectionate, likes attention from people and overall is an easygoing cat with a charming personality.

Twinkie is not very appreciative of other cats so he would do best in a single cat household. He has tested positive for Feline Immuno-deficiency Virus, a slow virus that affects a cat’s immune system over a period of years. FIV is a cat-only disease and cannot be spread to humans or other non-felines. FIV cats most often live long, healthy, and relatively normal lives with no symptoms at all. It is also not easily passed between cats. Twinkie can live out his golden years perfectly healthy as long as he is fed well and kept indoors.

Twinkie is neutered, microchipped and current on his vaccinations. If you are interested in meeting Twinkie, send an email to feautredadoptablepet@gmail.com or call or visit The Cat Adoption Center.

More About Maya

Maya is a 2 year old Australian Shepherd mix who is available for adoption at Adopt & Shop in Lakewood, CA at the Lakewood Center Mall. She weighs about 35 pounds and as you can see, she is pretty cute!

True to her breed, Maya is high energy, intelligent and friendly. An active family would be a good match for her because she does need plenty of exercise and mental stimulation to keep her busy. Maya is very smart even though she’s never had any training: she is housebroken and knows how to sit and stay. She is a fast learner and the volunteers and staff at Adopt & Shop are teaching her some basic commands while she is waiting for her new family.

Maya gets along well with other dogs although she needs a little socialization before warming up. Being a herding dog, she does like to chase cats so a cat free home may be most harmonious.

Maya is spayed, microchipped and current on her vaccinations. If you are interested in meeting Maya, send us an email at featuredadoptablepet@gmail.com or stop by in person.
