Research project recruitment on breast health in Chinese women

Georgetown University, the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA), and Temple University are conducting a research project on breast health in Chinese women, which is funded by the National Institutes of Health. This project focuses on Chinese women in United States and uses a video about breast health. We hope to invite 954 Chinese female residents who live in Southern California, Washington D.C., or New York; are age 42 or older; and did not receive a mammogram in the past 2 years to participate our project. You will watch the video or discuss breast health information with other women. This research is specifically aimed to promote breast health in Chinese female immigrants in the United States. We need your participation and help, and it is also important to draw the federal government’s attention to the health of Chinese immigrants in order to increase funding for research on Chinese immigrants. Recruitment for this study has begun and will end in late February 2013.

How to participate: You will be asked to complete 4 telephone interviews conducted by researchers within 2 years. Also, you will either need to watch the video on breast health in your own home or attend a group to watch and discuss the video with others. The method of your participation in the project (alone or in a group) is randomly assigned.

To thank you for your participation, you will receive a total value of $50 in gift cards for all 4 telephone interviews. Those who attend the group discussion will get extra $15 gift card for travel costs. Furthermore, we will mail you health information from time to time.
