A nationwide survey of board-certified physicians conducted by U.S. News & World Report concluded that UCLA's Jonsson Comprehensive Cancer Center is the best cancer center in California, and the ninth-best in America.

The center, which was founded in 1945 and employs over 240 clinicians and researchers, has ranked among the nation's top ten cancer centers for 12 of the past 13 years.  It has been praised for the lab research and clinical trials that facilitated development of the targeted therapies Herceptin, Avastin, Tarceva, Gleevec and Sprycel.
