Radiation Exposure in L.A. Is 'Minimal,' Health Chief Says

Health officials are monitoring the air for signs of radiation from the Japan nuclear crisis.

1. Los Angeles County's top health official says the risk of radiation exposure in Southern California resulting from the nuclear reactor crisis in Japan is "minimal'' and "very remote.'' Dr. Jonathan Fielding also says that federal and local agencies are using what he calls "exquisitely sensitive'' equipment to continually monitor radiation levels in the air, food and water supply.

 2. Today at noon, UCLA workers and students will take part in a rally to urge the Board of Regents to avoid balancing the budget at their expense. The rally will take place at Ronald Reagan UCLA Medical Center.

4. Rapper Nate Dogg has died, it was reported today. He was 41. The artist, a Long Beach native whose real name was Nathaniel D. Hale, died Tuesday. The cause of death was not immediately disclosed. The rapper suffered strokes in 2007 and 2009.
