Power has been restored to more than 1,500 customers in Westwood, according to the Los Angeles Department of Water and Power (LADWP).
The outage, which began just after noon Monday, initially left 1,541 customers in the dark.
About 500 customers were still without power late Monday afternoon.
It's unclear what caused the outage said Carol Tucker, LADWP spokesperson.
The boundaries of the affected area included Wilshire Boulevard to the north, Santa Monica Boulevard to the south, Westholme Avenue to the east and Westwood Boulevard to the west, Tucker said.
One reader, who lives on Malcolm, near the Mormon temple, said she lost power about 12:15 p.m. Another reader also lost power around lunchtime in the neighborhood northeast of Westwood Boulevard and Santa Monica Boulevard.
