L.A. DWP Getting New Chief

Ron Nichols would be the agency's sixth general manager since 2007.

1. The Los Angeles Department of Water and Power may get a new general manager this morning—its sixth since 2007—as the City Council appears ready to confirm the appointment of energy industry consultant Ron Nichols. Nichols said last week that he plans to foster more transparency within the utility, which council members accused of being underhanded last year in seeking approval of an electricity rate hike.

2. Los Angeles City Council President Eric Garcetti will speak at the Westwood Community Council's . The meeting starts at 7 p.m. at Belmont Village, 10475 Wilshire Blvd.

 3. At 7:30 tonight, comedians Jason and Randy Sklar will host the Armand Hammer Museum's "Open Projector Night,'' showing films under 10 minutes in all genres. 10899 Wilshire Blvd.

4. It's the last week in business at the Westwood Village store where everything is $3.99. The store is going out of business and will close Saturday. Stop by and say "thank you" or better yet buy something.
