Jerry's Famous Deli Employee Diagnosed with Hepatitis A

Customers of the Westwood eatery who may have been exposed are urged to get vaccinated.

An employee at the Westwood location of has been diagnosed with hepatitis A, the Los Angeles County Department of Public Health said.

The department recommends that anyone who ate sandwiches from the Weyburn Avenue deli—on site or catered—on Nov. 18, 22, 23 or 24 should receive an immune globulin shot or hepatitis A vaccination no longer than 14 days after their exposure to prevent or reduce illness. 

No other food or drink is considered to be at risk.

No cases have been reported to the department yet, director Dr. Jonathan Fielding said.

The incubation period for hepatitis A is two to seven weeks, the department said. Symptoms include jaundice, nausea, appetite loss, vomiting, fever, abdominal cramps, dark-colored urine, fatigue and light-colored bowel movements.
