Daily 5 Weekend Events Edition

Here are some worthy activities to check out this weekend.

1. Lakers fans will enjoy this one: NBA Senior Photographer Andrew D. Bernstein and basketball Hall of Fame player and coach Bill Sharman will be autographing copies of Journey to the Ring: Behind the Scenes with the 2010 NBA champion Lakers and the Los Angeles Lakers: 50 Amazing Years in the City of Angels at the Westside Pavilion Barnes & Noble on Saturday at 3 p.m.  Journey to the Ring recounts the Lakers 2009-10 championship run as told in the words of Coach Phil  Jackson and the photos of Bernstein. 50 Amazing Years recounts the Lakers' half century in Los Angeles with stories from the Los Angeles Times sports staff and photos from the archives of Getty Images.  Sharman was the head coach of the Lakers in 1972 when they won their first NBA title in Los Angeles. 

2. UCLA Center for Society and Genetics will present its ninth annual public symposium, themed "Made for Each Other? Dog and Human Co-evolution,'' exploring the social and biological development of humans and dogs and addressing what it meant for our ancestors and what it means for us. The symposium starts at 4 p.n. today and continues Saturday at the Fowler Museum.

3. UCLA men's basketball will take on Arizona on Saturday at 1 p.m. at Pauley Pavilion in the final home game of the season. Next up: The Bruins travel to Washington and Washington State before the Pac-10 Conference tournament.

4. 21-year-old French pianist Lise de la Salle makes her Los Angeles Chamber Orchestra debut Sunday night at 7 p.m. at UCLA's Royce Hall. The program: Ravel Pavane pour une infante défunte (“Pavane for a Dead Princess”), Saint-Saëns Piano Concerto No. 2 in G minor, Op. 22, and Beethoven Symphony No. 2 in D major, Op. 36. 5. Weather today: Mostly cloudy with a 50 percent chance of rain. Highs in the upper 50s. Tonight: Rain may be heavy at times after midnight. Lows in the mid 40s.
