The chef of soon-to-open Century City restaurant Hinoki & the Bird competed in the season premiere of Bravo's popular "Top Chef" on Wednesday night.
Kuniko Yagi made it past the first round of eliminations in the cooking competition, earning a chance to show off her cooking skills in Seattle, along with other chefs from across the country.
Yagi worked in finance in Japan before moving to Los Angeles, where she landed her first job as a noodle house server, according to her "Top Chef" bio. She also served at David Myers' L.A. restaurant, Comme Ça.
Myers' Hinoki & the Bird is slated to open in late December at the Century.
Watch Yagi on the next episode of "Top Chef" at 10 p.m. Nov. 14.
