Another Day, Another Storm Brings More Rain

A cold, unstable air mass has showers in store for SoCal.

1. A new Pacific storm will slam into the Southland today, bringing another round of rain, heavy snow, high winds, cold temperatures and perilous road conditions, forecasters said. The system that generated Wednesday's rainfall has left the region, but a cold and unstable air mass still lurking behind it will bring a threat of showers, according to the National Weather Service.

2. Los Angeles City Councilman Paul Koretz and the leaders of several Century City-area homeowner associations will join developers at a media event today to announce plans for a high-rise condominium tower at 10000 Santa Monica Boulevard. As envisioned, a roughly 280-unit tower, rising 30-40 stories, would be built along Santa Monica just east of Century Park West on 2.4 acres in an area where homeowner associations are known for fighting developments that they feel don't fit the area.

3. The Hammer Museum at 7 p.m. will present a screening of a work-in-progress documentary titled Semper Fi: Always Faithful, the story of a 25-year veteran of the Marine Corps who uncovers a cover-up of a water contamination incident after the death of his daughter. A question-and-answer session will follow with filmmakers Rachel Libert and Tony Hardmon.
