15 Things You Can Do On Westwood-Century City Patch

Here's how to share your opinions and content get connected with neighbors, and take advantage of the unique features this site has to offer.

Welcome to Westwood-Century City Patch. Many members of the Westwood-Century City community have taken advantage of some of the great features this site has had to offer since its launch almost a year ago.

Here are some of the things you can do on Patch. If you have any further questions, or need help using Patch, your local editor, Sara Fay, would be happy to assist you. Feel free to email her at saraf@patch.com.

1. An article isn't complete without comments from you.

With Westwood-Century City Patch, news isn't a one-way conversation. We not only want your feedback on our articles, we don't feel like we're doing our job if we don't get it. What do you most enjoy about a given piece? Where did you find it lacking? Do you have any dangling questions? Let us know, and we'll do our best to get the answers.

2. Ask questions.

Find out what's happening in Westwood-Century Citywith free, real-time updates from Patch.

Beyond commenting with queries on specific articles, we invite you to ask general questions related to the community. Want to report a leaf-blower violation but don't know how? Curious about the construction project happening down the street? Go to the Westwood-Century City Patch Q&A section and drop us a line. Conversely, if you're a pro on a certain subject—Westwood history, , eco-friendly alternatives to household chemicals—flaunt your expertise at the same location.

3. Send us news tips.

We're going to do our best to cover all the bases, but that doesn't mean that we won't miss something. Let us know what we're missing by clicking the "Send Us News Tips" link at the bottom of homepage. I'm giving out bonus points for those who send in scoops or breaking news.

4. Sign up for newsletters.

Westwood-Century City Patch will be updated on a fast-and-furious basis—24 hours a day, seven days a week. But if you're too busy to keep tabs on us every day, we won't be offended. Instead, sign up for the daily Westwood-Century City Patch newsletter. Delivered straight to your e-mail inbox, it will bring you all the articles and announcements that have been posted over the last 24 hours. And if that's too much e-mail, there's an alternative: the weekly newsletter, which will arrive every Thursday, and show select content created and featured on our site over the last few days.

Look for the "Follow Us" and "Newsletter" links in the right column of this and just about every page on Westwood-Century City Patch.

5. Post events.

If you're hosting a gathering of local activists and don't want to keep it a secret, the Westwood-Century City Patch events page is the place to spread the word. Let your neighbors know on our events page if you're planning a yard sale or an art show. We want you to use Westwood-Century City Patch to connect with your community.

6. Post announcements.

Westwood-Century City Patch accommodates word of weddings, funerals, births and graduations on our announcements page. Put out the call for fellow bicyclists to join you on a trek across town, brag about your child making the honor roll at Uni, ask if anyone has found your lost dog. No advertising, though. Check our Terms of Service for more details.

7. Advertise on Westwood-Century City Patch.

8. Claim your directory listing.

From businesses and government offices to schools and hospitals, we've been knocking on a lot of doors in Westwood-Century City. We've provided as much detail as we can on individual directory listings for establishments throughout the neighborhood, down to where to park and hours of operation. But we know we're not perfect, so if you want changes to be made to the listing for your business or organization, e-mail us at directorysupport@patch.com. Furthermore, if you want to claim your listing as your own, do so at centurycity.patch.com/places.

9. Shout it out.

If you have something to say but would prefer not to send a comment or write a letter to the editor, we have an easy-to-use alternative. "Shout" something by typing it into the box at the top of the Activity Stream on the home page.

10. Upload your pictures and videos.

Did you take a picture worth a thousand words? Got some great video footage of a recent Uni game? Post your work and share it with the rest of the Westwood-Century City community.

11. Review restaurants.

Digging a new happy hour in Westwood? Not so much? Post your reviews at . On the same page, we also have a nifty restaurant-search tool; you can filter results by price, cuisine or seating accommodations.

12. Engage with Westwood-Century City via social media.

If you like what Westwood-Century City Patch is all about, prove it by "liking" us on Facebook at Facebook.com/WestwoodCenturyCity. We're Tweeting too, so catch our latest pithy remarks by following us at Twitter.com/WestwoodCCPatch. We'll be re-Tweeting, and we'd be obliged if you returned the favor.

13. Send a letter to the editor.

Peeved about the Westside Subway Extension? Apron parking? Electronic billboards? Flesh out your thoughts or concerns in a letter to the editor, and send it along to saraf@patch.com. Please keep it to 500 words or less.
