With the , the Umami Restaurant Group believes Umami Burger is a good fit for Westwood. The new Umami Burger location will be around the corner from 800 Degrees Pizzeria.

"Westwood Village has a great blend of iconic cultural institutions, a strong business community, families, and college students," said Adam Fleischman, owner and founder of Umami Restaurant Group. Dubbed "U-Mini," it will be a smaller, streamlined version of other Umami Burger locations and the menu, focusing on to-go lunches and what the company calls "fine dining fast food." The restaurant group also plans to test new burgers there, and new technology. Customers will be able to order via the web and an app, and tablets will be a part of customer service. There will be no servers. All orders will be served on environmentally-friendly compostable dinnerware.

Umami Burger will fill a vacancy in the Village left by the shuttered Spudnick's at 1131 Westwood Boulevard.
